Suspect faces DUI manslaughter charges in crash that killed pregnant woman

A woman is behind bars after investigators say she was driving drunk in a crash that killed a pregnant woman last year.

Florida Highway Patrol arrested Jasmine Ann Gray, 27, of North Port Thursday on charges for deadly drunk driving in a crash that killed a 28-year-old pregnant woman of Port Charlotte in Sarasota County in November 2020.

According to FHP, at 5:20 a.m. on Nov. 29, Gray was driving a 2003 Honda Accord south on River Road and veered across the center line, just south of Center Road. At the same time, the victim was driving a 2016 Ford Focus north on River Road.

The front of the Honda crashed into the front of the Ford, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gray was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and was discharged.

According to FHP, a toxicology examination determined Gray’s blood alcohol concentration level to be a .124.

Gray faces charges for two counts of DUI manslaughter, two counts of driving while license suspend involving death and two counts of DUI property damage.

Gray was booked into the Sarasota County Jail. A booking mugshot is not available at this time.
