Fort Myers woman arrested for pepper-spraying children

A 40-year-old Fort Myers woman was arrested for pepper-spraying children in a vehicle.

The incident occurred on Friday when Tiffany Simmons was given a ride to her vehicle by her daughter, according to an arrest report from the Fort Myers Police Department.

Police say Simmons got into an argument with someone in the vehicle and threatened to Mace all of the occupants, including two girls.

Once the vehicle arrived at its destination, the emergency room, Simmons exited the vehicle and sprayed Mace inside.

Surveillance video also showed the encounter, according to the report.

Simmons told police she sprayed the vehicle, but only because someone sprayed her first.

“Simmons did not appear to have been recently exposed to Mace,” the report states.

Simmons faces two counts of cruelty toward a child and two counts of battery.

She was released on a bond amount of $25,000.
