A 13-year-old has died after a mini-bike crash initially left the teen in critical condition Monday morning in Lehigh Acres.

The Florida Highway Patrol says it happened at around 9 a.m. at 7th Street SW and Gordon Avenue.

Troopers say the teen was riding the bike on the shoulder of Gordon Ave., when he ran the stop sign at 7th St. SW and collided with the driver’s side of the pickup.

The 47-year-old driver of the truck remained at the scene, the FHP says. He had a 3-year-old passenger.

The teen was declared dead at Lee Memorial Hospital Monday night. The crash remains under investigation.
