A Lehigh Acres kid is doing everything he can to clean up his community. Each week, 6-year-old Liam Guzman walks around his neighborhood and picks up trash.

He’s shocked to see that people do not care about the planet. “I want people to stop throwing garbage on the floor,” Guzman said.

6-year-old Liam has so much energy but his mom says he puts it to good use.

Every week, Liam, his mom, Raquel, and his brothers and sisters walk around their Lehigh Acres neighborhood with a purpose.

“I use it to pick up the trash because it’s really nasty,” said Liam.

His purpose began a few weeks ago when he noticed there was trash all over the place.

“He said ‘but why do people do this why do they throw trash?’ I said ‘well baby, people they don’t know they throw trash on the ground and they shouldn’t be doing that,'” Raquel said.

“And he asked me ‘next time we go on our walk can we please bring a trash bag so we can pick up?’ and I told him ‘of course’ and he didn’t forget!” she said.

When his mom explained to him what was happening, it made him sad. “It made me really sad because when mom explained it made me really sad,” Liam said. “Because it’s going to ruin our world and this is the only world we got so if it ruins our world we’re going to have a lot of work to do so that’s why we gotta pick up trash.”

So every time he takes a walk, he makes an effort to improve the neighborhood.

“I was so proud of him. It amazed me that at his young age he saw that being a problem and other people don’t see that,” Raquel said.

A small person with a big message for anyone who litters.

“I want people to stop throwing garbage on the floor,” said Liam. “Please I beg you to start picking up some trash how we are.”

Liam told WINK News that he plans to keep walking and picking up trash in his neighborhood until there is no more litter anywhere.
