A police chase involving two Lehigh Acres teens on Miami Beach’s Ocean Drive was caught on camera.

The chase led to the arrest of 18-year-old Isariel Delestre, whose bail was set at $23,000 on Tuesday,

Delestre,  of Lehigh Acres, was behind the wheel at the beginning of the chase, at one point, sideswiping a police officer’s motorcycle.

Then, he and three others fled from the stolen Cadillac when traffic got too congested. That’s when, police say, 15-year-old Jeffrey Schick, also of Lehigh Acres, hopped into the driver’s seat and took over.

Schick drove the stolen vehicle through grass and crowds as people ran for their lives while the police were in pursuit.

WINK News attempted to speak with Delestre and his family on Tuesday, but no one was home. His neighbors declined to speak on camera.

Schick’s neighbors, on the other hand, did speak.

“It’s not surprising to see what they did in Miami Beach, though,” said Nancy Carr.

She says she’s seen cars from Schick’s house speeding through her neighborhood fairly often.

“There are kids,” Carr said. “There are a lot of stray cats around, people walking their dogs, walking their kids in strollers. And they just race in and out of here all the time.”

Investigators also found a gun in a Cadillac used during the chase. “I see the gun, and I say, ‘this is a kid. That’s scary and crazy,'” she said.

In an interview with the Miami Herald, the Miami Beach Police Chief called the two Lehigh Acres teens “bad dudes.”

There were two girls in the car, and they told police that they begged Delestre to stop. They say he refused; instead, he said, “I know how this is going to end.”

Delestre faces a list of charges, including kidnapping and battery of a police officer with a deadly weapon.

It’s unclear if Schick will face charges for his involvement.
