(Credit: WINK News) The Department of Children and Families has confirmed the death of a toddler in Suncoast Estates on Monday. Investigators with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home in the 7800 block of Bartholomew Drive early Monday to investigate the death of a 1 1/2-year-old. Crime scene tape was seen around a pile of mulch near the home as investigators entered the home. Neighbors said they saw a woman who lives in the home running along the street early in the morning. “I don’t know what she was doing, but she was crying about her baby, and then she fell on the ground,” said Emory McGee. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has not identified the victim, citing Marsy’s Law. They also said no arrests have been made in the case. It’s unclear how the child died, but EMS worked urgently to try to save the baby, according to radio traffic recordings. According to EMS scanner traffic, the baby was found unresponsive in a bed by family.
