Martin William Allen (Credit: CCSO booking photo) A Charlotte County deputy has been arrested for lewd and lascivious conduct, the sheriff’s office said Sunday. Investigators say Martin William Allen, 41, communicated online with someone he believed to be 15 years old. Allen made many inappropriate requests, including asking the 15-year-old to move in with him, the CCSO report states. The relationship began 10 months ago when a concerned citizen began posing as the 15-year-old girl in order to alert authorities. Deputies took over and continued posing as the girl beginning Feb. 10. Deputies were able to get Allen to agree to meet who he thought was the girl and he was then arrested. “Deputy Allen has broken his oath and that sacred trust that is expected as a law enforcement officer, instead choosing to prey upon those he swore to serve and protect. This cannot and will not be tolerated,” said Sheriff Bill Prummell. This investigation is ongoing. A judge on Monday set bail at $75,000, and should Allen be released, he is not to have any contact with minors. He will be arraigned March 29.
