Photo via MGN The Cape Coral Police Department will be conducting a DUI checkpoint this weekend, according to a press release from the department, as part of “continuing efforts to increase traffic safety awareness, education and emphasis on the importance of obeying traffic laws to reduce traffic crashes, injuries and deaths on the roadways in Cape Coral.” Officers will be looking for impaired drivers as they come through the checkpoint. The CCPD emphasizes the importance of courteous driving and obeying the rules of the road, and asks that anyone impaired uses a designated driver, ride-share app or taxi to avoid the costly fines of a DUI arrest.
