Investigators want the public’s help to identify a person of interest in connection to an armed robbery in the Pine Manor community in south Fort Myers Monday.

According to a Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers Facebook post, a male seen on a surveillance recording is a person of interest to an armed robbery that took place during the morning on Sago Avenue.

Investigators say a mother went to great lengths to protect her children from the person of interest.

The mother told investigators she feared for her and her children’s lives when a robber tried to break into their home.

When the person of interest pulled the gun on her, he never made it inside her home. Investigators say she shoved him away, shut and locked the front door and brought all of her children into a locked bedroom to keep them safe. But the mother said she could hear the man trying to get into her sliding glass door while she and her children were locked in a bedroom.

The mother and children waited in the room until Lee County deputies arrived at the scene.

The person of interest remained on the run Tuesday.

Anyone with information about his identity and whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477), or submit a tip online at the Crime Stoppers website or on the P3Tips mobile app. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest, or the suspect’s identification could be eligible for a cash reward.
