According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 41-year-old man from Lehigh Acres was driving a pickup truck westbound on State Road 80 (Hickpochee Avenue) near Hendry Street at 7:50 p.m. The 60-year-old man, from Winter Haven, attempted to cross the street in front of the vehicle and was struck and killed. The driver and passenger of the pickup truck were not injured. FHP no longer releases the names of people involved in vehicle crashes, citing Marsey’s Law.
