DUI arrest made after rollover crash on Santa Barbara in north Cape Coral

A Michigan woman was arrested for a DUI crash Wednesday night, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.

Jennifer E. Smith, 34, of Kalamazoo, Mich., was arrested after officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover traffic crash on the 100 block of Douglas Parkway. Her white Chevy Impala was found in a vacant field on the east side of Juanita Place, having rolled over and come to rest on its driver-side door. Smith sustained minor injuries, while her passenger sustained serious injuries.

Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment, where Smith became belligerent. Officers asked her to complete field sobriety exercises once she was medically cleared, after which she was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and driving under the influence causing bodily injury to another. Smith’s BAC was .107.

Smith is currently in the Lee County Jail.
