A Port Charlotte woman won $1 million from a $5 scratch-off game Friday.

Achara McFarland, 53, claimed her prize from the Monopoly Bonus Spectacular Scratch-Off Game using a secured drop box located at the Fort Myers District Office, according to the Florida Lottery.

McFarland purchased her winning ticket from the Circle K at 1783 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

McFarland chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $815,000.00. The overall odds of winning the game she won are 1-in-3.96.
