Elevated fire danger in SW Florida behind a cold front, breezy

Published: Updated:

It’s still muggy, warm and cloudy as you start off your Thursday morning! Once the front passes by, cooler, drier air and breezy wind mixes in across Southwest Florida.

As humidity levels drop and wind picks up, the combination of the two is going to increase our fire danger index.

This has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Fire Weather Warning (or Red Flag Warning) for parts of our area until 7 p.m. Thursday.

What does this mean for you? Any fires that develop could become extreme and outdoor burning is not recommended.

Otherwise, we have a nice afternoon on tap as highs will only reach the 70s. It gets downright chilly on Friday morning as lows dip into the 40s and 50s!
