One person killed in overnight shooting near Canterbury School

A double shooting early Saturday morning resulted in the death of one person in south Fort Myers.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to the area near Canterbury School and found two victims inside of a vehicle. According to LCSO, the reported address was 8211 College Parkway.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital where one ultimately died.

Deputies are calling this a homicide.

Due to the nature of the incident, detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Violent Crimes Unit responded to assume the investigation.

The shooting shut down a large stretch of College Parkway from Whiskey Creek to Winkler Road.

The roadway was reopened at around  7:30 a.m.
