A Cape Coral man was seriously injured after a three-vehicle crash in Collier County Thursday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 44-year-old man was northbound on County Road 850, south of Whidden Loop, around 6:30 a.m. Another car, driven by a 48-year-old Immokalee woman, was likewise northbound on County Road 850, south of Whidden Loop. Driving just behind the Cape Coral man’s car was an SUV driven by a 43-year-old Fort Myers man.

The victim’s car failed to maintain its lane and traveled onto the southbound lane, where the left front of his car collided with the left front of the woman’s car. The left front of the first car then collided with the left side of the SUV, which traveled off the roadway and collided with a tree. The man’s car came to rest on the east shoulder of County Road 850, the woman’s on the west.

The Cape Coral man sustained serious injuries, the woman minor injuries and the SUV driver none at all.
