A man is wanted after hiding in a Fort Myers antique store when they closed, then getting away with a haul of jewelry, deputies say.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the unidentified man was caught on security footage entering Gannon’s Antiques and Art Center at 16521 S. Tamiami Trail on Nov. 30.

Deputies say he hid behind a couch, then emerged around an hour later, once the business was closed.

The suspect removed an estimated $250,000 worth of jewelry and forced his way out of the store.

Store Owner Dean Gannon said, “We left here at 5:48 and the alarm went off at 6:03. And just a couple of seconds to grab a couple of things and head out before the police got here.”
