The father of a girl who died in a hit-and-run in 2019 was arrested Tuesday for a Fort Myers bank robbery.

Glenn Michael Aiken, 36, was identified via a tip received over the weekend, according to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.

Investigators responded to two bank incidents on Friday in Lee County. One was at MidWestOne Bank at 8690 Gladiolus Drive in south Fort Myers, where Aiken is accused of demanding cash from a bank teller. The teller gave him money, and the suspect ran away on foot.

Aiken is also accused of showing up at the Fifth Third Bank at 9000 Park Royal Drive in south Fort Myers, where he was approached for acting suspiciously. He ran away from the bank without making any demands.

The suspect was not seen with a weapon at either bank.

Aiken is in custody at Lee County Jail. He faces charges for robbery without a firearm or weapon and possession of a bulletproof vest during certain offenses. A judge Wednesday morning set his bond at $30,000.

Aiken is the father of Layla Aiken, an 8-year-old girl who was killed in a hit-and-run in March 2019 while she waited for her school bus with her brothers in Cape Coral.
