Lee Health remains in need of blood donations amid pandemic

Lee Health says it’s hosting multiple blood drives to meet its significant need for blood donors in the community.

According to the Lee Health Facebook post, amid the pandemic, many blood drives have been canceled, putting immense pressure on the healthcare system.

Blood donations with Lee Health Blood Center are kept at Lee health’s four acute care hospitals — Cape Coral Hospital, Gulf Coast Medical Center, HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital.

Blood also benefits patients at Lee Health’s specialty hospitals — Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, the Rehabilitation Hospital, Regional Cancer Center and Lee Health Coconut Point.

Lee Health said blood used for patient care must be continuously replenished to maintain a constant blood supply.
