Scene at Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers A person has died after being hit by a car late Saturday night. Fort Myers Police say a young woman was struck by a car and died on the scene. This happened on Cleveland Avenue (US-41) at South Street, right inf front of Lee Memorial Hospital. The driver and car involved in the accident did stay on scene. Witnesses who live nearby spoke to WINK News reporter Rachel Cox-Rosen about the aftermath. “We think the two right there blocked the cars so no one could go through and hit the body. It’s a horrible situation,” they said. “To be so close to home. Like, my little brother walks around here.” Southbound Cleveland Avenue at South Street was closed for several hours.
