A family now in mourning after the second child involved in the crash that sent a car into a canal has died. Despite the efforts of a Good Samaritan, he wasn’t able to save them.

One young boy died shortly after the crash while the other lost his life while in the hospital.

Scarlett Lawson documented her pain via Facebook as she made her way to Cape Coral after the deaths of both of her nephews. She talks about how losing them is the worst news she’s ever received.

“Pray for John Wayne please he’s fighting for his life. And Titus passed away in the accident. Please just pray for our family. Hearts are heavy this morning.” “I’m on my way to Florida to be with my nephew who is fighting for his life. ”

Unfortunately, Jonh Wayne Lawson ended up losing that fight.

“I didn’t just lose my nephew this morning, I lost my son. I’ve been there for everything even when no one else was today. Today will forever be the worst day of my life,” said Lawson.

She recorded two Facebook Lives on her way to Florida. Int he first on she says, “On my way to Florida right now. In Kentucky. I’m just exhausted I feel like I’ve cried my eyes out.”

Cape Coral Police say the children’s father Kenneth Lawson and a woman identified as Julia Drudy were in the car when it left the road, went airborne then crashed into the canal. The adults managed to get out in time.

The Good Samaritan, police and a dive team all tried to save the boys. Lawson can’t believe that her nephews are gone and that they couldn’t be rescued.

“I can’t even wrap my mind around this. I would of died trying to save you, boys, I swear it. I love you so much and my heart hurts so bad, ” she said. “I probably should sleep but I’m afraid to close my eyes. I just picture them scared.”

Scarlett Lawson is on her way to say her final goodbyes to John Wayne and Titus. “And our angels are watching us,” she said.

Just minutes ago, a crash reconstruction expert was on the scene taking pictures. Flags remain on the ground to mark the path the car took into the canal. The goal of this is to determine how fast the car might’ve been going before it went airborne.

Cape Coral Police say criminal charges are possible.
