An arrest has been made in a young woman’s shooting death earlier this month in Lehigh Acres.

Raymundo Estrada, 18, faces charges of murder, attempted robbery, and shooting into an occupied conveyance for the incident Nov. 5 in the area of Grant Boulevard and Paulcrest Avenue.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno said Estrada arranged to meet up with the victim, Gaudalupe Pineda Salinas, and her friend, tried to rob them and when they resisted, he ultimately shot Salinas, killing her.

A memorial is set up where 18-year-old Salinas was killed. Angel Agosto passed it every day.

“Every single day and, trust me, when I go down Grant and I see that, I mean, all my hairs … I get goosebumps. I go wow, Jesus, I can’t imagine what this family is going through,” he said.

A father and grandfather, Agosto said he was shocked by the killing of someone so young.

“I was really shocked when I heard about it. And a young girl … I got two granddaughters that are 18 and it was for me it was sad.”

He hopes the suspect’s arrest might offer some kind of relief.

This arrest isn’t Estrada’s first brush with the law. Lee County Jail records show he was arrested in 2016 at the age of 13 for robbery.
