Several people ran to the rescue of a person trapped in an overturned car in Cape Coral, and it was all caught on camera.

The crash happened off Cultural Park Boulevard and SE 9th Street.

Judith Arsenault grabbed her phone and shot video as the scene unfolded.

“I had just come from wishing my mechanic a happy Thanksgiving and drove half a block to the stop sign at the intersection,” she said. “I saw that there was an overturned car with the wheels up in the air.”

That’s not what moved Arsenault to take the video. What caught her attention?

“It brought tears to my eyes to see all of these good Samaritans who were just rushing to help these people.”

They tried to flip over the car, then help the driver escape.

“I estimate at least 10, maybe 12 walking around the vehicle, getting down on their knees,” Arsenault described.

“It was the most amazing thing so close to Thanksgiving.”

She said after this, she realized that even in this difficult year, there are heroes all around us.

“To see so many people come to the aid without being asked, without compensation, without anything but their hearts, it’s truly amazing, truly amazing.”

The Cape Coral Police Department said the driver is going to be OK.
