It’s hard to believe, but some retail is making a rebound in Southwest Florida. With options for customers such as curbside pickup, in-store pickup and regular in-store shopping, this flexibility may be why the Estero shopping mall Coconut Point just announced new retailers.

Adam Torres, owner of the new store Toy World, says he isn’t overly concerned with revenue, and parents of younger children will know why: There aren’t many toy stores around right now.

“We have small kids and there’s nowhere to get good toys for them,” Torres said. “Amazon and online is cool, but it’s nothing like coming to a store and picking it out yourself.”

Torres says his biggest challenge isn’t the money, but making sure customers stay safe. He’s put measures in place to make the shopping experience hygienic and easy, besides asking customers to wear masks.

“We have hand sanitizing stations everywhere and that’s it,” Torres said.

In the few weeks he’s been open, he says the response from the community has been great.

“We thought of this in August, of the idea, and we were just like ‘It’s a great time, regardless of the pandemic or not,'” Torres said.

Toy World and other shops at Coconut Point have Black Friday deals running from Friday through Sunday.
