(Credit: FHP) Two people were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a car collided with their golf cart in North Fort Myers. The Florida Highway Patrol said the 74-year-old driver of a sedan was reaching for his cell phone on the passenger-side floorboard when his car veered into the path of the golf cart, colliding with it head-on on Indian Creek Drive. The crash caused the golf cart to overturn, ejecting its two occupants, a man and a woman, both 73. They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The crash happened at about 1:35 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
