Cape Coral Police Department is responding to a scene near homes in north Cape Coral where there were reports of shots fired Wednesday night.

According to CCPD, police are in the 2300 block of NE 1st Terrace, which is near Hancock Ballpark off Hancock Bridge Parkway.

Neighbors we spoke to told us they heard several gunshots and said they were very concerned because it’s not a common occurrence near them.

“I was with my wife and baby and heard like six or seven gunshots in five seconds,” neighbor Nelson Garcia said. “We came out really fast to see what was going on.”

“They did say the shots were really loud, and the cops were banging on doors to make sure they were safe and to stay inside and not come outside,” Luisa Garcia said.

There were no injuries, and police said there was no danger to the public.

The scene has been cleared, and the investigation is ongoing.
