The site of a fatal crash on Summerlin Road. Credit: Maxar Technologies A 47-year-old Fort Myers man was killed in a crash on Summerlin Road and Sarah Bell Court Tuesday night. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving his motorcycle east on Summerlin Road around 6:38 p.m., approaching Bass Road. An SUV was traveling west on Summerlin Road. The motorcycle traveled off the roadway, over the grass median and into the westbound travel lanes. The motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle and became separated from it, coming to rest in the center lane of westbound Summerlin Road. The driver of the SUV, a 60-year-old Fort Myers Beach woman, did not observe him in the center lane and collided with him. The crash remains under investigation.
