Venice man seriously injured in Charlotte County hit and run

A 33-year-old Venice man was left with serious injuries after an unidentified driver crashed into his motorcycle and fled the scene Monday afternoon.

The car, a white sedan, was traveling south on US-41 in the inside lane at around 4:58 p.m. The motorcycle was traveling north on US-41, approaching Dahlgren Avenue. The unknown driver lost control of the car, which crossed the median, entered the US-41 northbound lanes, and collided with the motorcycle.

The collision threw the man off the motorcycle, which came to rest on the curb of Dahlgren Ave., while the man landed in the inside lane of US-41. He was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

The car made a U-turn on northbound US-41 and fled on Dahlgren Ave. If anyone has information regarding this crash, call the Florida Highway Patrol or SWFL Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-780-8477.
