Collier County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the attempted kidnapping of a jogger in the Naples Park community that happened Tuesday. This is similar to another Tuesday attempted kidnapping in the community that could be connected.

According to the CCSO Facebook Post, around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a jogger was approached by a man driving a gold Honda minivan along the 500 block of 104th Avenue North. The driver told the jogger that he and his children were out searching for their missing dog. The man tried to approach the jogger, who became concerned because she did not see any children with the man.

The jogger gave deputies a physical description of the man similar to that given by a jogger along 6th Street North, who said a driver tried to take her off the street around 7:30 p.m.

Deputies searched the immediate area but did not see any vehicles matching the description.

Deputies are conducting extra patrols of the area and have handed out flyers to local businesses, including the composite sketch of a man described in the incident along 6th Street North. CCSO is working with surrounding agencies as well.

Anyone with information on either incident can call the CCSO non-emergency line at 239-252-9300 or call Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
