Here’s a list of events in Southwest Florida honoring veterans.

CAPE CORAL

What: Veterans Day Celebration

When: 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11

Where: Brotherhood of Heroes Military Museum, 4522 Del Prado Blvd. S.

There will be free hot dogs, hamburgers, and beverages.

NAPLES

What: Veterans Day Celebration

When: 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11

Where: Cambier Park, 755 8th Ave. S.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY

What: Veterans Day ceremony

When: 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11

Where: Military Heritage Museum, 900 W. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda

Keynote speaker Rep. Greg Steube. There will be testimonials, patriotic music, color guard and a veteran tribute video.

What: Veterans Day Celebration

When: 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11

Where: Cultural Center of Charlotte County, 2280 Aaron St., Port Charlotte

The Cultural Center of Charlotte County is hosting an outdoor reception with treats and beverages, as well as door prizes and music. Tables and chairs will be set up on the outdoor patio with social distancing.

What: “Welcome Home Vietnam Vets 2020” Parade

When: 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21

Where: Route begins at Beach Park, heads north on Harbor Blvd., west on Edgewater Drive, and on to the William R. Gaines, Jr., Veterans Memorial Park.

The parade will have over 600 participants with over 50 units. Floats, three marching bands from local high schools, special guests, dignitaries, marchers, Vietnam Era military vehicles, Huey Helicopters in the air, and Vietnam veterans will participate.

The parade will feature Grand Marshal and Vietnam Medal of Honor Recipient SFC (ret.) Melvin Morris, Gen. Dick Carr, a member of the first graduating Air Force Academy Class, and Lt. (ret.) Wayne Smith, a jet pilot downed in North Vietnam and POW for five years.

After the parade, a “Welcome Home Vietnam Vets 2020” Celebration will be held at the Charlotte Sports Park, 2300 El Jobean Rd., Port Charlotte, with special headliner Lee Greenwood.

What: “Welcome Home Thunder” Motorcycle Ride

When: 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21

Where: Staging at Old Elks building, 20225 Kennilworth Blvd., Port Charlotte; leaves for Charlotte County Fairgrounds at 11 a.m. for a “Welcome Home Vietnam Vets 2020” Celebration.
