A moped driver was killed in a crash early Tuesday in LaBelle. The Florida Highway Patrol said the 30-year-old man was driving the moped on SR-80 when a sedan ran into the back of him near Phillips Road. The moped driver and his passenger, another 30-year-old man, were thrown from the moped. The driver died at the scene and his passenger was taken to Lehigh Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Troopers said neither wore a helmet. The driver of the sedan, also a 30-year-old man, was not injured. The crash remains under investigation. The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
