An 11-year-old boy is still in the hospital Monday after the driver of an ATV ran him over at the Redneck Mud Park in Charlotte County. The boy he had to be airlifted to Tampa due to his injuries.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest report, on Friday Night, an ATV flipped over as it was trying to turn. FHP arrested Zachary Huffman and say alcohol played a role in the crash.

Huffman admits he did have three White Claw hard seltzers but says that was three hours before the crash. FHP took a blood sample, but the results have not yet been released.

Huffman says he remembers trying to lift the four-by-four Gator off of the passenger’s leg.

The Redneck Mud Park, formerly known as the Redneck Yacht Club, has a long history of injuries occurring there.

In May of 2015, a man ran into a rope and died on his ATV. In March 2017 alone, 16 people had to go to the hospital for various injuries. Two years later, in March of 2019, a man died after getting into a fight at the park.

The 11-year-old boy does have permanent and serious injuries, but for now, he’s in fair condition.

WINK News did reached out to the Redneck Mud Park for comment but did not hear back.
