Sunday’s Coronavirus Updates: 2,385 new cases, 12 new deaths reported

As of 11 a.m. Sunday, there have been 778,636 positive cases of the coronavirus recorded in the state. The case count includes 768,653 Florida residents and 9,983 non-Florida residents. There are 16,429 Florida resident deaths reported, 203 non-resident deaths, and 48,207 hospitalizations at some point during illness, according to the Florida Department of Health.

*Numbers are released by the DOH daily at approximately 11 a.m. but are occasionally delayed.

STATEWIDE NUMBERS

Total number of recorded cases: 778,636 (up from 776,251)
Florida resident deaths: 16,429 (up from 16,417)
Non-resident deaths: 203 (unchanged)
Total deaths in state (Fla./non-Fla. residents combined): 16,632 (up from 16,620)

  • 2,385 total new cases reported Sunday
  • 12 new resident deaths reported Sunday
  • 0 new non-resident deaths reported Sunday
  • Percent positive for new cases in FL residents: 4.71%
    • This percent is the number of people who test PCR- or antigen-positive for the first time divided by all the people tested that day, excluding people who have previously tested positive. 

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA NUMBERS

Total recorded cases in SWFL: 44,745 (up from 44,563)
Deaths: 994 (unchanged)

  • 182 total new cases reported Sunday
  • 0 new deaths reported Sunday

Lee County: 22,711 (up from 22,619) – 506 deaths
Collier County: 14,087 (up from 14,025) – 253 deaths
Charlotte County: 3,509 (up from 3,487) – 157 deaths
DeSoto County: 1,652 (up from 1,651) – 29 deaths
Glades County: 595 (up from 593) – 6 deaths
Hendry County: 2,191 (up from 2,188) – 43 deaths

TESTING NUMBERS

Total tested (residents): 5,937,266
Total tested (non-residents): 22,784
Total positive (residents): 768,653
Total positive (non-residents): 9,983
Total negative (residents): 5,161,334
Total negative (non-residents): 12,753

The remainder of the tests is still pending or inconclusive, according to the FDOH website.
