Police say a man in a Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound in the right lane of Diplomat Parkway East, approaching the 600 block, when the girl ran into the road. The driver slowed and tried to avoid her by driving onto the shoulder, but struck a storm drain and rolled, landing on top of the girl. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver had minor injuries, according to police. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
