It’s the first day of open enrollment in Medicare Thursday, and experts say it’s more important than ever to be educated about your health care options.

Andrea Justice and her mom, Kathryn, have lots of questions about Medicare.

“I always do a lot of research before I pick anything,” Andrea said.

The clock is ticking, as the deadline to enroll or switch plans is Dec. 7.

“I review it every year and check everything out and make sure I’m getting the best bang for my buck,” Andrea said.

That’s why people in the market went to the Earp Enterprises senior expo to ask questions and get answers.

“There’s so many questions seniors have about what their options are,” said Russ Winstead, the CMO for EARP Enterprises. “Now, with changing times health wise, it’s really great to have an opportunity to really check what available for the following year.”

And it’s not the only topic seniors asked about. From health insurance, to health and wellness, dozens of Cape Coral seniors went out to Coral Ridge Event Center to learn more about resources for seniors such as Richard Svetz and his wife Eileen.

“We had talked to them about the possible future, senior living,” Richard said. “So I thought there might be some things here for us and other things we’d be interested in.”

“I think it’s nice for them to be able to go around and see all the things that they need or might need help with and what we can do for them,” said Rachel Earpm the COO of Earp Enterprises.
