Port Charlotte man faces charges of possessing child porn

A Port Charlotte man is facing federal charges of possession of child pornography.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that Marquise Thomas, 33, was viewing child pornography online at his Port Charlotte home on Beverly Avenue in November 2018.

The FBI executed a search warrant in January 2019 and found “numerous files of child pornography.” Thomas admitted to downloading child pornography, CCSO said. More than 300 images and videos were recovered from multiple devices seized from Thomas’ residence, according to the sheriff’s office.

Thomas was arrested Thursday and is currently in the Charlotte County Jail.
