Big changes continue to be made to the interchange at I-75 and Corkscrew Road near Miromar Outlets.

The project is still on track to be completed by spring 2021, but there isn’t an exact date yet.

The two goals of this project are to ease traffic and make the roads safer.

The Florida Department of Transportation is expanding both the on and off ramps so that merging on and off the interstate will be safer for drivers. It’s also adding an additional left-turn lane in each direction to go onto the interstate. FDOT also says we can expect to see new sidewalks and signals as well.

Estero residents have had different reactions to the construction taking place.

“When you’re getting on, all the stuff that’s at the curve, it kind of blocks your view from the traffic that’s coming on,” said Mike Gilberti.

“Well, that has to be a good thing, because it gets really crowded down there,” said Janet Weltman. “Especially in season it gets really built up. It seems to be a good idea.”
