Jose Alfredo Garanza-Garcia (Credit: CCSO booking photo) A 29-year-old man was arrested after deputies say he shot a woman in her sleep while he was handling a firearm while intoxicated in East Naples on Sunday. Jose Alfredo Garanza-Garcia is charged with shooting a missile into an occupied dwelling, and use of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. The CCSO arrest reports say Garanza-Garcia and the victim share a duplex on Holland Street. The victim was asleep in bed on her side of the duplex shortly before 10 p.m. Garanza-Garcia was in his bedroom on the other side of the duplex. After consuming an unspecified number of beers, Garanza-Garcia loaded his pistol and shot off a round that went through the wall and struck the victim in her abdomen, the report states. There were several other bullet holes in the wall, but none of them penetrated through. It was unknown when the bullet holes were made, reports said. The victim was transported to the hospital where she was treated for a superficial wound. Deputies placed Garanza-Garcia under arrest and transported him to the Collier County jail where he was booked on felony charges. A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer was also placed on Garanza-Garcia through ICE’s 287(g) program.
