Florida Gulf Coast University has canceled Spring Break 2021, opting to end the spring semester a week early as the pandemic continues.

The school sent an email Friday to staff and students telling them of the change.

“In keeping with our commitment to protecting the health and well-being of our campus and local communities and consistent with our sister institutions in the State University System of Florida, we will NOT have a spring break in 2021. Rather, we will end the spring semester a week early,” the school said.

FGCU’s revised academic calendar for the spring 2021 term:

· First day of classes: Jan. 11, 2021

· Last day of classes: April 26, 2021

· Finals Week: April 27 to May 1, 2021

· Commencement: May 2, 2021
