The company that owns Around the Clock Fitness has filed for bankruptcy and closes three Southwest Florida locations.

Town Sports International, LLC announced on Sept. 14 that it and a number of its affiliates had filed voluntary Chapter 11 petitions to restructure under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. This includes their New York Sports Clubs, Boston Sports Clubs, Philadelphia Sports Clubs, Washington Sports Clubs, Lucille Roberts, Total Woman, and Around the Clock Fitness brands.

Town Sports International, LLC says they are still open for business and continue to follow CDC guidance.

“These times are extraordinary and present challenges across many industries, including ours. While we work to address the ‘new normal’ introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognize that we must take necessary steps to reduce debt and strengthen our financial position,” the company wrote in an email to members.

The Port Charlotte, Alico, and Sarasota locations have already closed.

Around the Clock Fitness has three other locations in SWFL including Six Mile Cypress Blvd., and Boy Scout Road locations in Fort Myers, and one in Cape Coral.
