66-year-old man killed after losing control of vehicle in Hendry County crash

A 66-year-old Avon Park man was killed in a crash in Hendry County Friday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The man was driving an SUV headed north in the outside lane of US Highway 27, approaching the intersection of County Road 720 when he lost control of the vehicle around 11:30 p.m.

The SUV traveled off the roadway to the right, entered a ditch and overturned.

The driver was transported and pronounced dead at a local hospital. It is unknown whether or not he was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
