Hours later, we were told that isn’t going to happen. BREAKING: My same Miami source tells me @POTUS told Judge Barbara Lagoa this evening that he is officially cancelling the private meeting with her that was scheduled for Friday. Not a good sign for the Miami Judge on his short list for the Supreme Court. — Morgan Rynor (@Morgan_Rynor) September 24, 2020 According to The Associated Press, Trump said he will not be meeting with Judge Barbara Lagoa, but said the Florida-born jurist is still on his short list to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court. Speaking to reporters during a White House press briefing Wednesday, Trump, who has spoken highly of Lagoa, said, “She is on my list. I don’t have a meeting planned, but she is on my list.” Trump had previously suggested he might meet with Lagoa later this week when he travels to Florida for campaign events. He is set to announce his nominee for the high court Saturday afternoon. Indiana Judge Amy Coney Barrett is viewed as the favorite to be Trump’s selection.
