Crash location. Credit: Maxar Technologies A Cape Coral man was found dead after a car crash near the Sandoval Community Clubhouse on Tuesday. David Hernandez Jr., 31, of Cape Coral, showed no obvious signs of traffic crash-related injuries after he was removed from his white Chevrolet Express van at 2573 Sandoval Pkwy., according to the Cape Coral Police Department. At 12:44 p.m. Hernandez entered the community clubhouse driveway and continued east at around 5 mph, driving into a raised center median where the front of the van struck a large palm tree. Witnesses found Hernandez unresponsive in the front seat and pulled him from the car. CPR was performed by witnesses, CCPD officers and Lee County EMS. Hernandez died at the scene.
