Two people from Lehigh Acres are dead after a three-vehicle crash on the Alligator Alley portion of I-75 in Collier County Thursday around 6:35 a.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The 36-year-old male, with a female passenger of the same age, was driving a sedan westbound on the Alley in the left lane at mile marker 69. At the same time, a truck tractor was traveling westbound in the right lane in front of them and a pickup truck was traveling in the left lane behind them.

The right front of the sedan collided with the left rear of the truck tractor. The sedan was redirected and came to rest in the left lane facing north.

The front of the pickup truck then collided with the right side of the sedan and both vehicles traveled northwest off the roadway to the right and collided with the guardrail.

The driver and passenger of the sedan died from their injuries. Neither was wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the truck tractor, as well as the driver and passenger in the pickup truck, were wearing seatbelts and were uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
