The coronavirus pandemic may give the holidays a different look, and with COVID-19 cases going down, some of you are more comfortable traveling again.

Travel app Hopper says airline ticket prices for Christmas are down 25% compared to last year.

Before you book, Mark Jenkins, a travel agent with AAA, said you’ll want to double-check the fine print – and not just for your airline. Check the policies for any hotels you might be staying at, and if you don’t think you’re comfortable traveling just yet, there’s no harm in waiting.

“I think we’re seeing a lot of folks who prefer to wait until it gets a little bit closer to that travel, just because they don’t know what the conditions are going to be like, but the airline industry, just like every other travel provider, they are making concessions to give travelers that peace of mind that when they do travel they do have some flexibility,” said Mark Jenkins.

If you haven’t booked your flights yet, the time to do it for Thanksgiving is 60 to 90 days out, and for Christmas, it’s 30 to 60.

With a lot of vacations canceled this year, Jenkins said people are already taking advantage of travel deals for 2021 and 2022.
