North Fort Myers man seriously injured in crash; alcohol, speed a factor, police say

A North Fort Myers man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he crashed his car in north Cape Coral late Monday, police say.

Douglas Gordon Adsit, 25, had been drinking and was speeding at the time of the crash, according to Cape Coral police.

It happened at about 11:30 p.m. on Del Prado Boulevard North near the entrance to the Entrada community.

Police said Adsit was driving north at a high rate of speed, approximately 80 to 85 mph, according to witnesses, when he left the road at a curve, side-swiped a tree and then hit a guardrail.

Adsit suffered a serious head injury, according to police. He was listed in critical condition Tuesday morning.

Police said Adsit had a medical Blood Alcohol Level of 0.191.
