One dead, two in serious condition after crash on Alligator Alley

One person is dead and two others were injured in a crash on I-75 early Friday morning.

The crash happened on Alligator Alley at mile marker 69 in Collier County around 1 a.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver, a 38-year-old man from Tampa, veered off the road for unknown reasons, overcorrected before overturning in the median.

A 31-year-old female passenger from Oldsmar was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second passenger, a 32-year-old woman from Clearwater, was also not wearing a seatbelt. She remains in serious condition.

The driver who was restrained is also in serious condition.

The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases names of crash victims, citing Marsy’s Law.
