There is now a better look at how much money the School District of Lee County is spending on every one of your children to protect them this year during the pandemic.

The district said close to $13 million will be spent. To put that in perspective, that’s about $175 per student.

Masks are the leading cost since the district is required to supply them to students every single day.

Also included in that price tag are:

  • sanitizer
  • gowns
  • dispensers
  • face shields
  • wipes
  • cleaning products
  • thermometers

They’re also spending an additional $1.6 million to get touch-less water fountains.
We’re told most of this money is coming from the state and local level.

Other school districts are spending big money on personal protective equipment. Collier County is set to approve spending $90,000 on safety glasses.
