A crash on Alligator Alley at MM 65 in Collier County left one teen dead and two others seriously injured.

State troopers confirm the crash was between a semi-truck with a male driver and a car with five teenagers inside. The car hit the back of the semi-truck, flipped and hit a guardrail along the interstate.

A 16-year-old boy from Venice was in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Only one of the teenagers, a 16-year-old, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and she is listed as having serious injuries. A 16-year-old boy is also listed as having serious injuries. The male driver, 17, and a male 16-year-old passenger have minor injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 63-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and did not have any injuries.

The crash caused a full shutdown of the interstate for about an hour while helicopters landed to transport the teens to hospitals, and then lane closures as the scene was investigated and cleared. The interstate was fully reopened by 6 p.m.
