Port Charlotte man faces 6 counts of sexual battery on a minor

A 36-year-old Port Charlotte man has been jailed on six counts of sexual battery on a minor.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that Joseph Maxwell Griffin had been sexually assaulting the victim for several years in his home. Deputies interviewed Griffin Monday about the allegations at the Applebee’s where he was working before arresting him.

Griffin was still in the Charlotte County Jail on Wednesday. Each of the sexual battery counts has a $50,000 bond.
