The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said a 29-year-old man is being held on a federal immigration detainer after he was driving drunk when he struck a vehicle with his car and then drove away in Golden Gate on Sunday.

According to CCSO, deputies arrested Aristeo Sajojo Aguilar and he faces charges DUI, DUI with property damage, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and driving without a valid license.

Following his arrest, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer was placed on Sajojo Aguilar. CCSO said once Sajojo Aguilar has satisfied his local criminal charges, he will be released to ICE custody.

According to a CCSO arrest report, Sajojo Aguilar was driving a brown Nissan Murano SUV north on Santa Barbara Boulevard when he struck the back of a black Tesla that was stopped at a red light at the intersection with Green Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

The victim told deputies that Sajojo Aguilar then backed up and went around his vehicle and drove away, heading north on Santa Barbara.

The victim followed the SUV and a passenger contacted law enforcement. Damage to the Tesla’s rear bumper was estimated to be $1,000, reports said.

Deputies found the SUV traveling west on Pine Ridge Road near the intersection with Livingston Road in North Naples and made a traffic stop. When deputies made contact with Sajojo Aguilar, he did not have a license or identification.

Deputies noticed the SUV had front bumper damage and there was a bottle of beer in plain view next to Sajojo Aguilar’s foot on the driver seat floor. Deputies said Sajojo Aguilar’s eyes were watery and bloodshot and they could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his facial area.

Reports said Sajojo Aguilar consented to perform field exercises to see if he was capable of driving, but after two exercises he was not cooperating or following instructions.

A search of the SUV turned up five empty 12-ounce beer bottles in a red cooler on the front passenger seat.

Deputies placed Sajojo Aguilar under arrest. A breath test was conducted at the jail and Sajojo Aguilar blew 0.175 percent and 0.171 percent on two samples, which is well over the .08 legal limit, reports said.
